Future  Trends research is one of the core pillars of the Future Design discipline and the first in a series of two workshops. The objective of this 90 minutes seminar is to establish a practical foundation for spotting and understanding trends.
Future Trends research has been a growing practice since the 1990s that rapidly turned into an essential subsector of both creative industry and strategic planning, with academic validation, and when several trend scouts and trend scouting services emerged. Trend Research is relevant in a VUCA (Volatile, Uncertain, Complex, Ambiguous) world.
The seminar includes a presentation of critical developments in Future Trend Research, focusing on its core elements: scanning and anticipating the future.
Format: 30 minutes presentation by the tutor; 20 minutes Q&A 30 minutes break out rooms; 10 minutes plenary conclusions
