Immortality

Technology hasn’t just improved our lives; it has extended them significantly. This extension may be just the beginning, though, as the intersection of A.I., cloud computing, networks, sensors, robotics, massive datasets, biotechnology, and nanotechnology is expected to significantly enhance our ability to fight disease and prolong all elements of good health.

For example, 3D printed replacement organ parts will likely be available by the end of the decade. CRISPR is expected to soon target and rewrite DNA to help erase thousands of genetic diseases. Such advances in health care will likely accelerate in the years to come, with A.I. and other technology leading the advancement charge.

In the Future Casting session, we examine how science fiction examines this with Moon and Black Mirror’s San Junipero.
